Federal Aid Information
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans are available to eligible degree-seeking students enrolled in at least 5 credit hours (half-time) during the term of enrollment. If you are seeking a certificate or diploma only, or are only auditing classes, you do not qualify for federal aid. If a FAFSA has been filed for the student, eligibility will be calculated and the loan amount will be offered to the student in an official letter sent along with the student’s billing statement, or in a separate package.
To secure a Federal Direct Loan, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.ed.gov. The school code for Nazarene Theological Seminary is G02494. The NTS Financial Aid Office will then calculate your eligibility based on information obtained from your FAFSA and your enrolled hours. NTS will prepare a package for you and send this along with your semester billing statements. The Financial Aid office will contact you with information on what additional steps need to be taken to secure a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan after you have read through the documents sent to you and have returned any necessary documentation to NTS. If you are a new student and/or new borrower at NTS, you may need to complete Direct Loan entrance counseling and sign a Master Promissory Note at https://www.studentloans.gov.
